SAM LUXEMBURG
Sam regularly appears on radio and his ideas are sought after at conferences and workshops. He is a highly respected psychologist, trainer and counsellor. He coaches for The Mt Eliza Business School; has taught at the Southern School of Natural Therapies; and is regularly called upon to provide counselling for disasters that occur within Australia. Sam has worked in a variety of roles as a psychologist, counsellor and teacher for the past 28 years. He previously worked in the IT industry for 20 years. Sam has a BA in psychology from Swinburne University and a graduate diploma in counselling from Monash University, plus three years’ training with the Gestalt Institute of Melbourne. He believes his most rigorous training has been self-development through encounter groups, various workshops and large doses of life experience. Sam’s approach to training counsellors centres on individuals learning skills through practice, while developing their own style of counselling through personality, spirituality, life experiences and intuition. As a counsellor he sees individuals, couples and groups - in Thornbury and Woodend. He lives with wife Joan on a beautiful eight-acre property near Woodend, and has two adult daughters. Testimonials Sam is a warm, loving and loveable, generous and wise man who has taught me so much about myself, and encouraged me to recognise my strengths. He has shown me by example how to communicate my feelings with a sense of self worth and trust. Sam has taught me the principles of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard through being and living those principles himself. He has encouraged me to live in the present moment and I feel very blessed to have such a beautiful soul as my mentor and for his presence in my life. - SHEENA WATERHOUSE, graduate
I was under the delusion that I was doing this course to help others – ha – what a surprise for me! Sam was the one person who gave me a gift that changed my life forever. He gave the key that unlocked my self-worth. I cannot describe or put into words how he did it – he is a quiet. Humble, gentle man with a wicked sense of humour! He shares his wisdom and compassion easily, he has this extraordinary ability to ask the right questions that takes the lids off things you weren’t aware of. And enables the real you to step forward. - MARGIE DE PELLEGRIN, student
The tears, the laughter, the anger, the rawness and intensity of this powerful course has helped me to know that it's ok to be me, even if that means I'm scared, or observing and checking what's coming out of my mouth. I have choice and my choice is good for me in that moment. I have much more awareness. I'm constantly checking inside myself to see how I feel, asking myself what am I feeling, saying, doing as I'm speaking to people, particularly if I'm feeling nervous or fearful. I feel much more peaceful about myself; my self-acceptance is greater now than it has ever been. I'm beginning to love myself, even if in my eyes I've stuffed up. I'm stronger in my resolve to be there for myself, to trust my own intuition and guidance. I feel like I've come home, that I've finally found a place where I can practise what I feel – TO LIVE EACH MOMENT AS MY TRUE SELF - and it's a very, very good place to be! - SYLVIA FORTNAM, graduate
